The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Prosper Harrison Addo has expressed hope in the Black Meteors as they prepare to kick start their U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign in Morocco.
Having embarked on a competitive training tour in Egypt where they played two matches, the Black Meteors touched down in Morocco on Wednesday and are preparing to commence the tournament with a highly anticipated clash against Congo on Sunday.
In their two matches, they managed a draw against Egypt and a resounding victory over Zamalek on Tuesday. The team will now be aiming to finish in the first three at the end of the tournament in order to make a return to the Olympic Games which they have missed for 20 years.
Harrison Addo who wished the team well ahead of the tournament stated that they would be successful if they were able to translate their performances during the training tour into the tournament.
“We can only wish them the very best. They’ve had good training in Egypt and we are hoping it reflects so that we can qualify. The desire of all Ghanaians, the Ministry as well as the FA is to get a slot to get to the Olympic Games because it’s been a long time since we qualified.
“We have a good team led by an equally good technical team. We are only praying that we see glimpses of their performance at the tournament which I believe will yield a good output. so we will continue to wish them the very best as they go all out to represent Ghana.
